Second opinions, diagnosis services or treatment. Whichever of these services they wish to apply for they are likely to need to submit scans in digital format, which means posted on a CD or uploaded directly by internet to the centre concerned.

CyberKnife® centres in particular require recent scans (within the last three weeks for cancer) to make their assessments. In practice many patients find it difficult to obtain scans promptly and in digital format, and delay can be critical in some cases.

BULGARIA

Euromedic Bulgaria

History

In June 2008, Euromedic began operations in Bulgaria its 15th country of service with the acquisition of Dr. Vitanov’s Imaging Diagnostic Centre (now Medical Centre Euromedic Diagnostics Sofia) located on the grounds of the National Oncology Centre in Sofia. In addition, the company has announced the appointment of Dr. Cvetan Angelov as its Country Manager.

The centre has a highly respected reputation for providing modern, quality imaging diagnostic services and has served the community for nearly 3 years. IMC Sofia currently provides Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) diagnostic investigations with plans to broaden its modalities in the near future. This year, the centre (Headed by Dr. Deliverski) and his team will perform over 2,000 diagnostic investigations.

In February 2009, Euromedic opened a second diagnostic centre in Bulgaria in the city of Pleven, which is the second largest city in Northern Bulgaria with a population of over 250,000.

In October of 2008, Euromedic won the public tender for the privatization of the hospital’s MRI modality in the Regional Medical Centre. The University Hospital is the referent for the Central-North part of the country. Over the last several months, the company has upgraded the facility with a new 1.5 T Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) modality manufactured by Siemens Medical Systems. IMC Pleven is headed by Dr. Niagolova and together with her team performs over 3,000 diagnostic investigations annually.

On March 9th 2009, Euromedic acquired “Mediscan” Diagnostic Centre in Bulgaria in the city of Stara Zagora (230,000 inhabitants) which is a University town in South Central part of the country.

IMC Stara Zagora is built on the premises of the Central University Hospital and will examine In/Out patients as well as Trauma emergencies. The University Hospital is the referent for the South-Central part of the country and is equipped with a Computerized Tomography (CT) and a 1.5 T Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) modalities.

IMC Stara Zagora is headed by Dr. Mitev and together with his staff of six medical professionals and performs over 6,000 diagnostic investigations annually.

CROATIA

Euromedic International Croatia

History

In May 2006, International Dialysis Centres acquired the largest dialysis centre in Croatia - Polyclinic Sveti Duh II. The Zagreb-based Polyclinic was completely renovated and equipped with the most advanced dialysis medical equipment, and it now caters for more than 180 patients. The centre, which is located on the grounds of Sveti Duh Hospital, was the largest and most famous dialysis centre in former Yugoslavia.

Euromedic announced the opening of its latest dialysis centre in Gospic, Croatia. The centre is located in the Gospic Regional Medical Centre and was developed in co-operation with the local government as a Green Field Project. This is the second centre Euromedic owns and operates in the country. IDC Gospic will treat 65 patients on a regular basis and has the capacity to accommodate visiting patients during the holiday season. The centre has 10 haemodialysis machines and this year with a staff of 10 medical professionals will perform in excess of 10,000 treatments.

In July 2008, Euromedic acquired “Poliklinika Kalajzic” Diagnostic Centre in Split, Croatia. The acquisition includes a modern multi-modality diagnostic centre and outpatient department located in the second largest city of Croatia. The company which was established in 1993 has earned a highly respected reputation having served the community for over 15 years. This is the first diagnostic centre of Euromedic in Croatia.

The centre provides a wide range of diagnostic and outpatient procedures including: Magnetic Resonance (MRI), Computerized Tomography (CT), Ultrasound, X-Rays, Mammography and Neurological exams. The centre headed by Dr. Kalajzic and his highly qualified team of 20 medical professionals perform nearly 40,000 diagnostic investigations annually.

CZECH REPUBLIC

Euromedic Czech Republic

History

In January 2006, Euromedic acquired Mediscan – the largest private diagnostic centre in Prague and in the Czech Republic. The multi-modality centre (including MRI, CT, Mammography, Bone densitometry, Ultrasound and a large number of outpatient clinic services) will be the cornerstone for future development in this market.

Building on the success of its first acquisition in the Czech Republic, Euromedic acquired Prague Lab MUDr. Dana Šináglová s.r.o. on October 1, 2007. The Lab is co-located in the same facility as IMC Mediscan and provides a full range of clinical laboratory examinations including: biochemistry, hematology, immunology and microbiology. The lab has 24 collection points strategically located around the city and with its staff of 16 medical professionals performs over 2,000,000 clinical investigations annually.

Euromedic expanded its services in the country with the acquisition of “IMUNO” Laboratories in late October, 2007. IMUNO laboratories have a well recognized and respected brand image having served the community for over 14 years. The laboratories offer a complete range of clinical tests including: Biochemical, Microbiological, Hematological, Immunological and Nuclear. The laboratories (6 in total) plus 12 collection centres are located in the North -West part of the country and with its staff of 79 medical and technical professionals provide over 5,000,000 clinical investigations per year.

In October 2008, Euromedic acquired Lab "BioCyt, v.o.s." in the city of Brno (second largest city in the Czech Republic) South East part of the Country. The acquisition is very strategic for the company as it will compliment Euromedic’s existing laboratory business in the country and extend its line of clinical investigations into the specialized pathology laboratory services. BioCyt laboratory has a well recognized and respected brand having served in the community for over 15 years. The laboratory’s core business focuses on Pathology diagnostics examinations including: Biopsy, Cytology and Necropsy investigations. This year, the company with its staff of 12 medical professionals will complete over 26,000 pathology investigations.

In March 2009, Euromedic acquired “HISTOCYT” laboratory in the city of Cáslav, Eastern part of Middle Bohemia. HISTOCYT laboratory has a well recognized and respected brand image having served the community for over 16 years. The company provides laboratory examinations in the range of biopsies and cytology and has a license to perform specialized investigations. This year the lab with its staff of 8 medical professionals will perform over 39, 000 clinical examinations.

GREECE

Iatropolis Magnetic Tomography Centre
Iatropolis Magnitiki Tomographia AE is a private specialised tomography and scanning facility which has also created one of the most modern CyberKnife® radiosurgery installations.

They have 7 MRI scanners (including a Siemens Trio, the only 3 Tesla MRI in Greece), 3 CT scanners (including a Siemens Definition, a 128 slice CT unit designed for larger hospitals and research facilities) and a full range of other diagnostic units.
Iatropolis is located in Chalandri, in the northern outskirts of Athens, Greece

The centre performs specialist scans such as coronary CT, and its high definition 3 Tesla scanner has meant that Greek patients no longer have to travel abroad for scanning.

History

November 2005 marked the onset of operations for Euromedic International in Greece. Euromedic’s daughter company, Evroiatriki, started operations aiming to penetrate the private diagnostic imaging and clinical laboratories market through the acquisition of existing businesses, which are subsequently equipped and modernized. Then, Euromedic’s know-how and corporate culture is introduced and applied in these enterprises.

Currently, Euromedic owns and operates an extensive network of diagnostic centers, which are established in model medical facilities with the highest standards of safety, comfort and aesthetics. These centers are equipped with state of the art medical equipment and staffed by top doctors in every field and connected with the most advanced telemedicine & PACS system in Greece.

1. The first multimodality diagnostic center, the Reference Diagnostic of Messinia located in Kalamata, became member of the group in December 2005 and was fully modernized – both in terms of building facilities and medical equipment – in the beginning of 2006.

Currently, the Reference Diagnostic of Messinia is equipped with advanced 1.5? MRI, spiral CT and X-Ray / Fluoroscopy system from Philips, Color Doppler Ultrasound , Conventional Mammography system & Bone Mineral Densitometer from GE Healthcare as well as an advanced Siemens Digital Mammography system.

The Reference Diagnostic of Messinia Center has been serving Messinia patients since 1991 and is considered a point of reference for healthcare services in the area.

2. The second multimodality diagnostic center is Piraeus Diagnostic Tomography, which became part of the group in December 2005 as well. The center moved to new very prestigious facilities on Akti Moutsopoulou, in September 2006, and was equipped with new advanced medical equipment. Piraeus Diagnostic Tomography was founded in 1991 and comprises a reference center to date for the Piraeus, South Attiki and Aegean island area.

Currently, Piraeus Diagnostic Tomography is fully equipped by GE Healthcare with advanced 1.5? MRI, advanced multislice (64-slice) CT, X-Ray system, two digital Color Doppler Ultrasound systems, advanced Digital Mammography system, Bone Mineral Densitometer and cardiology department.

Piraeus Diagnostic Tomography is Euromedic’s telemedicine center for the Attiki area, using modern diagnostic workstations and an AGFA PACS system to link and support regional centers.

3. The third diagnostic center is the Reference Center for Vascular and Ultrasound Examinations and it is located in Athens. It became member of the group in March 2006. The center of radiologist Nikolaos E. Liassis, who specializes in vascular diseases is equipped with two color digital Color Doppler devices and was founded in 1999. To date, the center offers reference diagnoses for all vascular diseases in Greece and advanced ultrasound examinations.

4. In April 2006, Magnetic Tomograph of Kavala became part of Euromedic. Magnetic Tomograph of Kavala was founded in 1998 and is established as a center offering outstanding medical services to the city of Kavala and the wider area of East Macedonia. The center is equipped with advanced 1.5T MRI, spiral CT, digital Color Doppler Ultrasound and Bone mineral Densitometer all by GE Healthcare The center will soon move to new modern facilities in the city’s downtown area and will be supplemented by additional departments and a fully equipped clinical laboratory.

5. In October 2006, Euromedic Greece welcomed the fifth center in its network, namely Kozani Diagnostics – Michailides, which is located in the city of Kozani and covers the wider West Macedonia area.

Kozani Diagnostics was founded in 2003 and is currently fully equipped by GE Healthcare with advanced 1.5T MRI, X-Ray system, digital color Doppler Ultrasound, Bone Mineral Densitometer Panoramic X-ray and the first Digital Mammography system in Macedonia

6. The Chania Medical was the sixth center to become part of Euromedic Greece in November 2006. The Chania Medical is a multimodality diagnostic center offering advanced imaging and laboratory medical services to the entire western Crete area since 1991.

The Chania Medical is established in an independent building at city’s central square (Dikastirion square), which was completely renovated in 2007 with the addition of new state of the art equipment. The center is equipped with advanced 1.5T MRI 1, spiral CT, Nuclear Medicine Department (gamma camera), two digital color Doppler Ultrasound systems, Mammography unit, Bone Mineral Densitometer and X-ray unit all by GE Healthcare, as well as a clinical laboratory equipped with ABBOTT analyzers.

7. The Crete Medical is the seventh and largest center to become member of the Euromedic Greece Group in June 2007. The Crete Medical is a model multimodality diagnostic center established in a modern building at city’s central square (Eleftherias Square), in the Heraclion downtown area, in Crete.

It is one of the first diagnostic centers in Greece, offering outstanding medical services since 1987, while holding a prominent position throughout the country as the most significant private healthcare institution on the island.

The Crete Medical was completely renovated in 2008 both in terms of facilities and equipment. The center is equipped with advanced 1.5T MRI, advanced multislice (64-slice) CT, Gamma camera, five digital Color Doppler Ultrasound & Echocardiography units, Digital Mammography system, cardiological Department, X-Ray system, all by GE Healthcare radiology unit, a Bone Mineral Densitometer by Norland and a fully deployed clinical laboratory equipped with ABBOTT analyzers. The Crete Medical center comprises the telemedicine center for Crete using modern diagnostic workstations and a telemedicine system as well as AGFA PACS system.

8. In August 2007, Euromedic Greece founded in Thessaloniki its reference diagnostic center of northern Greece, comprising the eighth diagnostic center in the network.

Evroiatriki Thessaloniki is established in a model facility in the city’s downtown area across from the new Mayor’s Hall, with excellent access to anyone visiting the city center.

Evroiatriki Thessaloniki is fully equipped with GE Healthcare medical equipment, such as advanced 1.5T MRI, advanced multislice (64-slice) CT, the first Digital Mammography system in the city, three digital Collor Doppler Ultrasound and Echocardiography systems, cardiology department, Bone Mineral Densitometer and Panoramic X-Ray system. The center is also equipped with a GMM radiology/fluoroscopy unit and a fully equipped clinical laboratory by ROCHE.

Evroiatriki Thessaloniki comprises the telemedicine center of northern Greece using contemporary diagnostic stations and telemedicine system as well as AGFA PACS system.

9.In November 2007 Sparta Medical became part of the Euromedic Greece group. Sparta Medical is a multimodality diagnostic center that has been consistently serving Lakonia patients since 1992. In August 2008, the center moved into new very modern facilities equipped with state of the art medical equipment in an independent building in the downtown Sparta area. Sparta Medical Center is fully equipped with GE Healthcare advanced 1.5T MRI, advanced multislice (4-slice) CT, Gamma camera, digital Color Doppler Ultrasound, Panoramic X-Ray, Bone Mineral Densitometer, , Mammography system and x-ray unit. In addition, the center has a Radiology Immunoassay (RIA) department and fully equipped by ROCHE, clinical laboratory.

10. In July 2008 Iatriki Diastasi became the 10th center of the Euromedic Greece group. Iatriki Diastasi is a model diagnostic center located in the southeast Attiki area (Vari), which was founded in 2006 and in a period of three years became a reference center in the area.

Iatriki Diastasi is equipped by Siemens with an advanced 1.5? MRI, advanced multislice (6-slice) CT, advanced two head Gamma camera, panoramic x-ray , digital radiology/fluoroscopy unit and Digital Mammography System. The center is also equipped with two GE Healthcare digital ultrasound and echocardiography systems and Bone Mineral Densitometer, as well as a fully equipped, by ROCHE, clinical laboratory.

11. Axial Tomograph Kozani became member of the Euromedic Greece group in July 2008. Axial Tomograph Kozani is the first CT center in the city of Kozani, which has been in operation since 1992 offering high quality services. The center is equipped with a GE Healthcare spiral CT. In cooperation with Kozani Diagnostic, Axial Tomograph Kozani will proceed to synergies in order to offer patients in the area even better services.

12. In September 2008 Euromedic Greece founded an advanced clinical laboratory in the city of Piraeus next to Diagnostic Tomography of Piraeus

Euromedic Piraeus is fully equipped with automated clinical chemistry and immunology analyzer, automated hematology analyzer of 22 parameters and Urine analyzer from Roche Diagnostics, automated homeostasis and coagulation from Dade Behring. It offers all the Clinical Chemistry, Immunology, Electrolyte, Cardiac, Hormonology, Cancer, Bone Markers and Blood Daisies, Coagulation Parameters and Hematology analysis exams

Hungary

History

Following the change in the political system at the beginning of the 90’s two entrepreneurs, Joseph Priel and János Mészáros, approached the Hungarian Government with an original idea - setting up a state-of-the-art diagnostic imaging centre backed by foreign investors, with the services being sold to the State and the patients getting treatment free-of-charge. This would solve several pressing needs - introducing the latest technologies to the healthcare sector, training and upgrading doctors’ expertise through working on updated equipment and providing services on a non-stop basis to the entire population.

After one year developing the concept, the Hungarian Government, supported by the Parliament’s Healthcare Committee and the Health Insurance Fund, agreed to roll it out. On 18 October, 1991, Israeli investor Elbit Medical Imaging Ltd. opened Central Europe’s first private diagnostic centre - the International Medical Centre (IMC) at the MÁV Kórház in Budapest (the hospital of the Hungarian national railway service).

After two years of successful operation the company opened the second multi-modality radiological diagnostic Centre (IMC Szeged) in the Medical University of Szeged in 1993. The centre qualified as a training site for the university, which was a significant step to securing a good reputation in the medical community. In the same year, Elbit formed a new company together with a partner from Singapore, Elbit Eagle East Europe (4E). The company participated in the privatisation of OMKER Rt, the market leader in medical supplies, and became a major shareholder in the company.
In 1996, the third large diagnostic centre opened at the County Hospital of Gyor. With this move, the company began to penetrate into the western part of Hungary. After leaving the management of the Elbit companies in Hungary, Joseph Priel formed the Euromedic Group of companies together with Red Sea Group Ltd. (an Israeli Property and Trading company). The group began providing services to hospitals in pharmaceutical, diagnostics and medical supplies, and became a major partner in the hospital supply chain in Hungary.

In 1998, Euromedic and Elbit activities were merged into a joint company. The management decided to build and open satellite centres functionally connected to its chain of large multimodality centres. Four such centres were opened over the following years: in Orosháza (1998), in Cegléd (1999), in Hódmezovásárhely (2000), and in Hatvan (2001).

In December 2002, IMC Szeged won the tender for the privatization of the diagnostic services at the Medical University of Debrecen. The concession was granted for 15 years. This achievement was a milestone in the privatization of the Hungarian healthcare sector since it was the first time a private company was granted the right to operate the entire radiological diagnostic department of a state institution.
In December 2004, the company won the tender for the privatization of the Radiological and Nuclear Medicine Department of Szeged Medical University. The concession was granted for 25 years.

In July 2008, Euromedic acquired “Labscreen Diagnostics Group” from Siemens in Hungary. The group consists of three diagnostic centres - two Computerized Tomography centres located in Peterfy Hospital and Karolyi Hospital in Budapest and a multi-modality centre in the county hospital of Salgotarjan. Labscreen which was established in 1996 by Siemens has a team of 64 people who perform over 87,000 diagnostic imaging investigations annually.

Euromedic today has business relations with nearly every Hungarian medical institution.

In May 2009, Euromedic opened its latest state-of-the-art Radiological Trauma centre in Budapest, Hungary. In late 2008, Euromedic won the public tender to provide Trauma and other medical related services for the Central Budapest geographical area (700,000 inhabitants) located in Peterfy Sandor Hospital and Trauma Center, one of the largest in the city with over 1,600 beds. This multi-modality centre is Euromedic’s 12th diagnostic centre in Hungary.

Budapest Trauma Centre provides a wide range of diagnostic services (7 days a week / 24 hours per day) including: Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), Computerized Tomography (CT), Angiography, Ultrasound, Mammography, X-ray, Radiological Intervention and Nuclear Medicine. The centre headed by Dr. Katalin Bor and her team of 15 medical professionals perform tens of thousands of Radiological Trauma investigations annually.
Diagnostics Division

The core business of Euromedic is the investment in medical services. Today the company operates 11 radiological diagnostic centres under the brand name International Medical Centres. The centres in Budapest and Gyor and Salgotarjan are privately owned by Euromedic and sell their services to the Health Insurance Fund. It operates by a contributory contract with the university in Debrecen and Szeged, and with the local hospitals in Hatvan, Cegléd, Orosháza, Hódmezovásárhely, Peterfy and Karolyi, operations are financed through the university/hospitals, thus creating a unique combination of a private healthcare entity which is fully integrated into the public healthcare system.

The International Medical Centres chain represents more than one-third of the market as the largest operator in Hungary. Besides these centres, Euromedic is operating a VIP diagnostic service in Budapest for key customers from leading companies. The check-ups are highly personalized and carried out in an exclusive environment.

Ireland

History
Euromedic began operations in Ireland with its successful acquisition of MRI Ireland in March 2007. This acquisition enabled the company to provide high quality diagnostic services in both The Republic of Ireland as well as Northern Ireland (UK).

The acquisition included two semi-mobile MRI centres which provide service to Sligo Hospital and Ulster Independent Clinic in Belfast, Northern Ireland (UK). In addition, to the first two mobile units in Euromedic’s portfolio including: one mobile MRI centre and one mobile CT centre which provide services for four hospitals Castlebar, Ballinasloe, Naas and Maynooth.

In July 2007, Euromedic acquired a second Irish company, Advanced Radiology. This acquisition includes two state-of-the-art, multi modality diagnostic centres around Dublin: Rockfield Medical Campus in Balally, Dublin 14 and Dublin City University Urgent Care Centre, Dublin 9. Advanced Radiology was established in 2002 as Centres of Excellence in radiology, dedicated to providing the highest possible standard of diagnostic imaging services in a pleasant comfortable environment. The advanced nature and the proven effectiveness of the leading-edge technology at the centre, together with the first-class staffing and procedures, has established a new paradigm for radiology services in Ireland.

In January 2008, Euromedic continued its expansion in Ireland with the acquisition of Northwood Imaging Radiology & MRI Centre. This acquisition includes a state-of-the-art multi-modality diagnostics centre located in the charming woodlands of Santry Demesne; Dublin, Ireland.Northwood Imaging which was established in April 2005, is a well recognized and respected Imaging Diagnostic company. The company and its team of 22 medical professionals including a highly respected team of seven Irish Radiologists (Dr. Ronan Browne, Dr. Samuel Hamilton, Dr. Eric Colhoun, Dr. William Torreggiani, Dr. Martin Ryan, Dr. Sean McKenna and Dr. Brian McGlone) have provided diagnostic services to more than 28,000 patients. The centre is designed to provide its patients a wide range of high quality diagnostic services including: Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), Ultrasound, DXA Scan and Panoramic Dental Radiology.

IMC Charlemont was acquired by Euromedic in March 2008. “Charlemont Imaging Clinic” is a multi-modality outpatient / diagnostics centre located in the heart of Dublin's city center. The company, which was established in 1987 by two of Dublin’s finest Radiologists, Dr. Gerard D. Hurley and Dr. David McInerney, is a well recognized imaging diagnostic company serving the community for over 20 years. The diagnostic imaging services are provided by an expert team of Radiographers and Consultant Radiologists, supported by a professional administrative staff.
MRI and CT

The company provides a wide range of diagnostics procedures including: Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), Computer Tomography (CT), X- Ray, Ultrasound, Bone Densitometry (DEXA) and Dental CT/OPG. The “Charlemont Clinic” performs in excess of 23,000 diagnostic investigations annually.

In October 2008, Euromedic acquired “Lablink” Laboratory in Dublin, Ireland. The acquisition was strategic for the company as it now entered a new line of specialized medical service in the country; in addition to the six imaging diagnostic centres Euromedic currently owns and operates in the country. Lablink was established in 2001 by a team of medical professionals with extensive experience in the clinical and corporate healthcare sectors. The commitment of the company is to provide a unique streamlined clinical laboratory service.

Lablink’s primary focus is to provide a complete service encompassing all aspects of laboratory analysis from collection of samples to reporting. A major component of this type of service involves fast tracking and reporting of accurate, accredited results, which enables Euromedic to provide a highly streamlined system through electronic requesting of tests, bar coding of samples and electronic turnaround of results. Reports are sent electronically to the referrers desktop and integrated into their patient management system. Lablink is one of the market leaders in Corporate Health Screening and Occupational Health Services and with its staff of 19 medical professionals performs over 250,000 clinical examinations annually.

In June 2009, Euromedic acquired ”Diagnostics Health Ltd.” a multi-modality Radiological Diagnostics Centre in Cork, the second largest city in Ireland.

Diagnostic Health Centre is a well established brand with over 15 years of distinguished service to the community. The company offers a range of high quality diagnostic imaging services including: Mammography, Dexa (Bone Densitometer), Ultra-sound and X-ray.

The centre is led by the (Co-owners) Radiographers Sandra O’Donnell and Peter C. Murphy, who collectively have nearly 30 years of radiography experience between them and together with their team of 10 medical professionals perform 12,000 investigations annually.

Euromedic Italy

History
Euromedic began operations in Italy with its acquisition of Villa Salute medical centre in September of 2007. The centre is located in the city of Manerbio-Bs, Lombardy Region; Northern Italy.

Villa Salute was established in 2002 as a-state-of-the-art multi modality diagnostic facility, designed to provide its patients the highest quality radiology and imaging services supported by the best available specialist. The outpatient treatment facility covers an area of nearly 1, 500 square meters and currently supports the following Medical Services: CT, Volumetric Spiral CT, Total Body Scan, MRI, Digital X-rays, Cardiac Scan, Ecopdopler, Ultra Sounds, Mammography, Urology, Ozone therapy, Orthopedics, Dermatology, Gynecology, Physiotherapy, Cardiology, Surgery, Neurology and Eye care. This year the centre will complete over 40,000 diagnostic investigations.

In October 2007 “IRMET” (www.irmet.com) the largest PET/CT centre in Europe joined the Euromedic International Network. The company is located in the city of Torino and was established in 2003 as the first diagnostic centre of its type in the Torino metropolitan area. The centre is designed to serve ambulatory patients as a centre of excellence for diagnostic imaging investigations.

The centre, together with a team of 19 medical professionals, operates three General Electric state-of-the-art PET/CT diagnostic devices.. ”IRMET” is a very important strategic move for Euromedic, as the company sees a big future for the development of its PET/CT network in Europe. The Torino centre will serve as the best reference site for this network and will be used for training and PET/CT Teleradiology. “IRMET” is also a shareholder in Advanced Accelerator Application (AAA) – one of the largest European producer of FDG Isotopes.

MRI and CT
In November 2007, Euromedic continued its expansion in Italy with the acquisition “Medi-Care” Diagnostic Centre in Zelo Buon Persico (Lodi), Italy (www.medi-care.it). The acquisition includes a modern multi-modality diagnostic centre and outpatient department located in the Lombardy Region of the Country.

The centre provides a wide range of diagnostic and outpatient procedures including: Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), Digital X-Rays, Ultrasound, Echo Doppler, Mammography, Eye Care, Cardiology, Orthopedics and Physical therapy. This year with its staff of medical professionals the centre will conduct over 30,000 diagnostic investigations.

IMC Centres in Monselice, Modena, Ferrara and Piove di Sacco were acquired by Euromedic in March 2008, as part of the “INIZIATIVA MEDICA GROUP” including the largest MRI Centre (13MRI Modalities) in Europe. The centres are located in the cities of Monselice, Modena, Ferrara and Piove di Sacco in the Veneto and Emilia Romagna regions of Northern Italy. “INIZIATIVA Medica Group” was established in 1987 and is a well recognized imaging diagnostic company having faithfully served the community for over 20 years. The centres and their team of 90 medical professionals perform more than 130,000 diagnostic investigations annually.

Poland

History

Euromedic entered the Polish healthcare market in the year 2000, in response to a change in the Polish healthcare system that introduced the possibility for Public Private Partnerships.

The National Health Fund (Narodowy Fundusz Zdrowia) is the institution responsible for assuring healthcare services in Poland. The Fund finances healthcare services within the general health insurance system by concluding contracts with public as well as non-public healthcare providers. This makes it possible for Euromedic, with its proven model of a private healthcare provider which is fully integrated into the public healthcare system.
Starting activity in Poland was also in response to problems inherent in the Polish healthcare system. Lack of funds made investments in equipment and infrastructure impossible for many hospitals. The existing equipment aged with no prospect of replacement. At the same time, there was increasing demand for medical services.

In 2000, Euromedic started its activity in Poland in two main medical fields: Diagnostics and Dialysis.

Currently, Euromedic is the largest private operator and it has the largest network of dialysis and diagnostic centers in Poland. Within the following years, Euromedic has launched 18 International Medical Centers and 19 International Dialysis Centers in the Polish market.

DIAGNOSTICS

Today Euromedic operates 19 International Medical Centers in Poland, and is a leader provider in the private diagnostic imaging sector.

1. SWIETOKRZYSKIE MEDICAL CENTRE located in Kielce, in south-eastern Poland, was the first International Medical Centre in the country, opened in March 2001. Euromedic reached an agreement with the local authorities to open a new, fully renovated centre with new CT, MRI, X-Ray and Ultrasound.

2. The second centre in Poland was opened in June 2001. WARMINSKO–MAZURSKIE MEDICAL CENTRE is located in Olsztyn, in the north-eastern part of the country. Today, the Centre offers CT, MRI and Ultrasound imaging diagnostic.
3. Just a few months later, on the 13 November 2001, WIELKOPOLSKIE MEDICAL CENTRE was opened in the regional capital Poznan. The Centre offers MRI services.

4. WALBRZYSKIE MEDICAL CENTRE was opened on the 11th June, 2002 in Walbrzych, Lower Silesia. It offers MRI and CT services and is one of the major medical centers in the region.

5. The next investment in Poland was a diagnostic centre in Zielona Gora, which was opened in September 2002. LUBUSKIE MEDICAL CENTRE is equipped with MRI, CT and Angiograph modalities.

6. In October 2002, WIELKOPOLSKIE MEDICAL CENTRE established its branch in Kalisz. The facility offers high-quality MRI services.

7. In March 2003, Euromedic opened a diagnostic centre in the capital of the Pomeranian region Gdansk. POMORSKIE MEDICAL CENTRE is equipped with high level cardiological MRI and CT modalities. This Centre performs a large share of the MRI investigations in the region and also takes part in clinical research.

8. The first diagnostic centre in the capital of Lower Silesia – Wroclaw, was opened on the 1 September 2005. WROCLAWSKIE MEDICAL CENTRE conducts high quality CT and MRI examinations.

9. The next diagnostic centre in Lower Silesia was opened in Legnica on the 1 October 2005. LEGNICKIE MEDICAL CENTRE offers a wide range of diagnostic modalities, among which CT, Mammography, USG and 3 X-Ray units. In March 2007 the Centre was moved to a modern facility, and MRI was added to its equipment.

10. In September 2006, A BRANCH OF THE SWIETOKRZYSKIE MEDICAL CENTRE was opened in Skarzysko-Kamienna. The Centre offers CT diagnostic imaging.

11. On the 1 June 2006, the second medical CENTRE was opened in Wroclaw. WROCLAW EMERGENCY HOSPITAL is equipped with CT, MRI, X-Ray, USG and an Angiograph modalities.

12. In July 2006, a branch of the Swietokrzyskie Centre was opened in Sandomierz. SANDOMIERZ MEDICAL CENTRE is located in south-eastern Poland and performs angiography imaging and vascular examinations. This is the second location of Euromedic in Poland to offer such services.

13. LOWER SILESIA NUCLEAR MEDICINE CENTRE, located in Wroclaw, is the first PET-CT centre in Euromedic International network. It provides advanced diagnostics for oncological, neurological and cardiological diseases. The Centre was opened in March 2007.

14. MASOVIA PET-CT CENTRE, located in Warsaw, was established in December 2007. This is the second PET-CT centre in Poland operated by Euromedic International. It provides advanced diagnostics for oncological, neurological and cardiological diseases.

15. KONSKIE ANGIO CENTRE is located in Swietokrzyskie Voyvodship. It provides lifesaving medical procedures for people with coronary artery disease or suffering from sudden myocardial infarction. The Centre became operational in January 2008.

16. ELK ANGIO CENTRE is located in the beautiful Masuria Lakes district and was opened in April 2008. The equipment installed allows performing angiography on patients with coronary artery disease. It performs scheduled treatments as well as emergency procedures. The Centre also performs percutaneous vertebroplasty procedures.

17. In April 2008 Euromedic also opened its third PET/CT CENTRE in Poland. This latest centre located in the Poznan Regional Medical Facility (WIELKOPOLSKIE MEDICAL CENTRE) will specialize in nuclear medicine and is equipped with a state-of-the-art General Electric PET/CT equipment. The Poznan centre will serve both public and private patients.

PET/CT (Positron Emission Tomography combined with Computed Tomography) is the most advanced equipment in medical diagnostics. This ultra modern technology can not only show anatomical structures of the body, but also how it works (functional images). This technology will allow doctors to detect cancer earlier and diagnose whether the disease has spread.

It will also be able to diagnose Alzheimer’s disease at a stage when it can be still controlled by medication and in addition, be able to perform enhanced cardiological investigations. The centre with its staff of 7 medical professionals will perform over 1,500 investigations annually.

18. ZACHODNIO POMORSKIE MEDICAL CENTRE was opened in May 2008 as a state-of-the-art MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) centre in Szczecin. The centre is located in the Szczecin Medical Academy Hospital and serves both public and private patients.

The Szczecin centre is designed to provide not only traditional MRI investigations but also specialized MRI breast mammography. These specialized investigations are conducted in cooperation with the renowned Medical Academy Professor Jan Lubinski (Internationally recognized for his research associated with breast cancer and genes BRCA 1 and BRCA 2 which are responsible for genetic inheritance of the disease).

The team performs a genetic screening of women who have a family history of breast cancer and if they are genetically prone to inherit the disease they will undergo a regularly scheduled Mammography-MRI investigation at Euromedic’s centre. The Szczecin centre with its staff of 15 medical professionals performs nearly 5,000 MRI investigations annually.
CANCER TREATMENT CENTRES

In October 2008, Euromedic began services in its First Cancer Treatment Centre. This state-of-the-art Radiotherapy centre is located on the grounds of the Sokolowski’s Regional Hospital where Euromedic is operating a multi-modality imaging facility since 2002.

The Walbrzych centre is equipped with two megavolts Linear accelerators, 40 slice CT Modality and Brachytherapy HDR equipment which was all supplied by Siemens Medical Systems. The centre which took more than a year to build because of its unique signature and specific regulatory requirements has the capacity to treat up to 3,000 cancer patients per year.

In February, 2009 in Poznan - Greater Poland. Euromedic opened its Second private radiotherapy centre in Poland. The centre equipped with two megavoltage linear accelerators with IGRT technology, 40-slice CT, HDR brachytherapy device. The centre performs teleradiotherapy, brachytherapy and CT examinations. A part of the Euromedic complex, consisting of Dialysis and Diagnostic departments (MRI, ANGIO, PET-CT).
Perspective for the future

Most of the diagnostic and haemodialysis equipment in Poland is still aging and in need of replacement. The financial difficulties of the Polish Ministry of Health and many local governments provide good scope for growth and development of private medical service providers.

History

Euromedic began operations in Portugal with its acquisition of “Eurodial” in February of 2007. This acquisition included two dialysis centres (IDC Leiria and Obidos) both of which are located north of the capital city Lisbon. Romania

History

In 2001, Euromedic entered Romania, offering to join forces with the Ministry of Health and the National Health Insurance Fund in establishing diagnostics and dialysis centres that would operate under the Euromedic PPP concept.

The first centre was built in Arad, which had a high medical need due to a lack of modern equipment. The Euromedic Arad Imaging Diagnostic centre was inaugurated on 18 June, 2002. The centre treats over 300 patients a day, in all diagnostic imaging modalities. Arad centre served as a pioneer in setting the standards for future centres that Euromedic would build in Romania.

In November 2003, the second diagnostic imaging centre was opened in Constanta. The Euromedic Constanta Diagnostic and Treatment centre is located in the grounds of Constanta County Hospital and serves patients from Constanta and all its neighbouring counties.

On 7 September, 2004, the third centre was inaugurated in Petrosani. The Euromedic Petrosani Imaging Diagnostic centre was built in a poor part of Romania at the request of the Romanian government, to cover the severe lack of medical diagnostics services for the population of the region.

In December 2004, Euromedic Fundeni Diagnostic and Treatment centre - the largest multimodality imaging diagnostic centre in Romania began operations. The centre is located in Bucharest, in the grounds of Fundeni Clinical Institute and is equipped with the most modern, highest technology diagnostic imaging equipment.

In 2006, Euromedic expanded its activity and began to provide clinical services in numerous medical specialties in order to offer its patients a complete medical diagnosis.

In 2007, the Company opened Euromedic Medgidia Imaging Diagnostic centre – its fifth centre in Romania which works as a satellite of Constanta centre.

In May 2008, Euromedic inaugurated the PET/CT Department within the Euromedic Fundeni Diagnostic and Treatment centre. This was the first PET/CT operating in Romania and still represents an important medical event treated by the media. The Buenos Aires German Hospital opened in 1867 and the Board of Directors is still composed of leading members of the German community. The Hospital has 240 beds in individual rooms, 11 operating theatres, a coronary unit, adult and paediatric intensive care units, burn care and transplant areas. The Hospital Alemão Oswaldo Cruz in the Paraíso area of São Paulo was founded in 1897 by a group of German speaking immigrants. Today it has 239 general admission beds, 13 intensive care beds, 13 operating rooms, 23 day clinic beds, an emergency room and 3 minor surgery operating rooms and it has JCI accreditation. HCor was created over 30 years ago in the Paraiso area of Sao Paulo to offer needy children the most advanced technology in the world in terms of cardiologic procedures.
